You Can't Please Everybody... So Stop Trying

You Can't Please Everybody... So Stop Trying

If you've been in business for more than five minutes, you've probably learned one universal truth:

You can't please everybody.

Some people love dark roast coffee. They want bold, smoky, rich flavours that grab them by the taste buds and refuse to let go.

Others prefer medium roast. They want balance, nuance, and a smoother cup that lets the coffee's natural character shine through.

And then there are the people who insist their favourite roast is the only correct roast and everyone else is somehow wrong.

Fortunately, coffee doesn't work that way.

One of the things we love most about coffee is that there isn't a right answer. Taste is personal. What makes one person smile might make another person wrinkle their nose.

The same thing is true in life. The same thing is true in business. The same thing is true in art, music, books, and just about everything else.

So instead of arguing over whether medium roast or dark roast is better, here's a radical suggestion:

Why not have both?

Seriously.

Buy a bag of medium roast and a bag of dark roast.

Mix them together.

Start with a 50/50 blend and see what happens. Maybe you'll discover your perfect cup.

Want a little more body and boldness? Try 25% medium roast and 75% dark roast.

Looking for something smoother with just a hint of richness? Go 75% medium and 25% dark.

There are no rules. No coffee police are going to show up at your door.

The beauty of blending is that you get to create something uniquely yours. You don't have to settle for someone else's idea of perfect. You can build your own.

That's one of the reasons coffee is so much fun.

Every cup is an opportunity to experiment. To discover. To find the flavour that makes you happy.

So the next time someone tells you that medium roast is the only way to go, or that dark roast is the king of all coffee, just smile.

Then go blend yourself a cup that is exactly the way you like it.

Because at the end of the day, the best coffee isn't the one that pleases everybody.

It's the one that pleases you.
